AI Success Depends on People, Not Technology

Nonprofits are increasingly wondering whether to adopt AI — many are dabbling without governance structures, policies, or internal capacity to do it safely.

What We See in the Sector

Leaders are stretched thin, nonprofit-specific guidance is limited, and tools being marketed to the sector promise to do the work without addressing the risks that come with them. Organizational readiness is the missing piece.

The Fundraising Opportunity

One area of particular opportunity is fundraising, where AI can dramatically increase both the efficiency and effectiveness of development work — when the right infrastructure is in place first.

What We Do Differently

We are nonprofit leaders who understand the sector from the inside. We are not selling software, pushing a particular solution, or running generic workshops.

  • Deep knowledge of nonprofit culture, governance, and mission-driven work
  • Governance and policy frameworks built before implementation begins
  • Hands-on skills training with real nonprofit tasks and workflows
  • Ongoing support as technology evolves — not a one-time engagement
  • Vendor-neutral advice grounded in your organization's specific context

A Three-Phase Engagement

Each phase builds on the last — from understanding your current state to hands-on capability that lasts.

Phase 1

Discovery & Governance

We begin by building shared awareness across your organization — what AI is, what it isn't, and where the real risks lie — so leadership and staff are starting from the same informed foundation. We then assess organizational AI readiness across strategy, workflows, data, technology, and staff comfort, and build the governance foundation your board and leadership can stand behind.

Deliverables Readiness report with prioritized recommendations · Custom AI governance policy ready for board approval
Phase 2

Implementation Planning

A step-by-step implementation plan tailored to your organization's priorities, resources, and readiness — with clear policies around data privacy, security, staff roles, and appropriate use.

Deliverables Custom implementation roadmap · Data privacy & security policies · Staff role definitions · Skills-building launch
Phase 3

Skills-Building & Ongoing Support

Hands-on staff training using real nonprofit tasks: grant writing, donor communications, board materials, financial reporting, and development work — with ongoing support as the technology evolves.

Deliverables Role-specific guidance · Prompt libraries · Change management support · Quarterly policy updates

Where AI Makes the Biggest Difference

Tasks that previously took hours can be completed in a fraction of the time — creating capacity for the strategic thinking and relationship work no tool can replace.
